About the Workshop
Nicole Martres
Nicole began her physical training in artistic gymnastics at the age of six. After leaving gymnastics, she explored dance and physical theatre for two years, until discovering circus arts at the age of fourteen. Circus remained a hobby until she was eighteen, when she decided to move to Europe, France, to pursue it as a professional career.
Specialized in handstands and contortion, Nicole has worked with many physiotherapists focused on shoulder health and trained with several teachers in both disciplines in order to develop her own teaching methodology.

Handstands
This workshop focuses on specific exercises for shoulder health, posture, alignment, and joint care, serving as a thorough warm-up and body preparation. The training continues with active and passive flexibility exercises, handstand fundamentals, and technical work to efficiently begin one-arm handstand training. One-arm shapes will then be explored and adapted to each participant’s level.
Requirements: a solid two-arm handstand, 30 seconds free-standing (no wall).

Flexibility and Contortion
This class begins with injury-prevention and strengthening exercises, followed by flexibility work and a specific warm-up for legs and back. Participants will explore exercises such as different approaches to the bridge, elbow bridge variations, cobras, one-leg balances, and related shapes, finishing with contortion handstands. Levels will be adapted and organized into groups as needed.
Requirements: recommended for participants with previous body training experience. Contortion experience is not required, but participants should have a physical level suitable for a three-hour class. Groups may be divided by level toward the end of the class if necessary.
