A two day workshop with Stefan Crainic
Born in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, Stefan studied music and competitive swimming as a teenager. He continued his physical education with capoeira. Passionate about the human body, he began studying medicine to become a doctor. At the start of the fifth year, he dropped out of his studies and started to study under Jozef Frucek and Linda Kapetanea, the founders of Fighting Monkey practice. His teaching journey started as a capoeira instructor in his hometown. Later he taught multiple times at the National Theatre of Transylvania. In the last years he has taught various movement (inspired by Fighting Monkey) and acrobatics workshops in Germany, Italy, at the d.i.p intensive in Belgium, Spain, Romania and Switzerland where together with Josephine Haas he taught the national team of figure skating.
About this Workshop
During this workshop we will explore the landscape of our bodies, crossing the barriers in between disciplines to develop a better experience of ourselves. By cross analyzing human locomotion, we will integrate in our classes elements from various disciplines as dancing, martial arts and athletics – developing a more reactive and adaptable organism.
We will cover subjects such as joints articulations, body awareness, coordinations, movement situations, animal locomotion and task exploration. A space open for movement enthusiasts professional dancers, martial artists and other athletes who want to expand their repertoire, for personal trainers and physiotherapists and anyone else who seeks to learn, experience and play.
Driven by curiosity and with a sense of playfulness we are going to learn to move better on 2 feet and on 4 limbs, with ourselves and with others.
